If you farm them too often your drops decrease in value. I usually farm them once a week. Keeps my drops good and i dont waste my life farming.

That is simply UNTRUE. That's not the way the anti-farm code works. Please read the first couple of pages.

And to everyone else, yes, the Ettins were nerfed yesterday during and in between updates. However, with the "official" Factions release update it appears they still drop gold armors, though it seems at a reduced rate from what they used to.

There was a specific chronological order of events, and if you don't read the entire thread it will not make any sense. Hence the reason some of you are saying, "ZOMG they aren't nerfed, stop crying...".

Guildwiki doesn't know diddly about updates. They aren't the devs. All they do is speculate. I have seen no significant decrease in the quality of ettins. I think the former difficulties were because of this bug they fixed. Guildwiki on updates ftl.

I'm still seeing between 1-3 rare armors every two runs which is about all I ever saw anyway. Law of averages people. you do 2 runs and get nothing well that happens. You do fifteen and get nothing then it's officially a nerf.

Only problem I have with this is the fact when you got rare pauldron they most of the time came out to be a major rune. as from my experience farming ettins. I heard you coul dget superior vigors/absorptive runes off them but in all my many weeks farming them and the countless rares I have yet to see a single one. Well said. They may have increased the drop rate to the game as a whole but for those areas that dropped rare stuff every run out (in some cases multiple rares) they had their drops nerfed. What Anet has done is made the drop rate through out the game more level. So yes the drop rate of rares has increased some but for the ettins they have decreased dramatically.

Combine this throughout game increase with the increased chance of finding vigors and absorbtion and you now have the average player doing the quest and mission finding in on their own through the course of the game. Farmers won't be able to get the prifit they used to. Soon the prices of the items that made farmers rich will drop. Then what? Find something quickly so anet can nerf that too and make it more easily obtainable.

See the problem with this hun was that we weren't seeing ANY runes past maybe 3runs and ONE minor rune TOTAL... This was the reason for the panic - ettins were dropping crap weapons and nothing more- I farm for hours before going in and nothing - that was why people were freaked

But it's done and over with now! YAY for ETTINS!

Seems like you still haven't heard the news. Ettin nerf was a glitch that has been fixed and ettin drops have been restored to what they were before they removed the Luxon and Kurzick camps.

im sure you'll be very happy to know about the new update! All rare gold armor drops, when IDd only result in Sup runes, same goes for Purple armor drops, they only result in Major Sup Runes!

The drops are about the same as they always have been.

Before the rune quality change you had a chance to get a major out of a gold armor. Now its a 100% chance to get a sup rune.

If you count the number of gold armors that were acually sup runes it would be equal to the current drop rate of gold armors.

They are dropping less because of the 100% chance of it being a sup rune.

Btw my secret spot first kill dropped a sup vigor today. Its about equal to what ettins give but I can also get rare materials. That's the only reason I prefer it over ettins.

thinking it would going down again but...

For your information, yesterday on 3 runs : 2sup divin favor, 1sup absorb, 1 sup dead magic...

I did a run w/ multiple back and forth zonings between Nebo Terrace and North Kryta.

Got a Sup Healing, three blech Sups, three Major Absorbtions, 6-7 utterly blechy majors, and a single minor.

This, I believe was a glitch/bug. I saw the same exact effect, however, in a 5-hour period, something will not drop by 30k, then jump back up 30k. The prices WILL go down, but it will take at least a week for them to stabalize. My guess is monk runes will sit at around 4-5k, Necromancer runes at aprox. 1k each, superior vigor at 15-20k, and superior absorbtion at 25-30k.

Give it time, and they will drop to that, possably even lower.

And ettins where not nerfed for anyone still thinking that, it was a temperary glitch that now has been fixed.

On a side note - the old glitch where armors didnt provide any runes, even though they where purple and gold, seems to have come back in cantha. If anyone notices this in Tyria as well, post please, I would like to know.
